On December 6, 2005, Lewis Spotts contacted the Better Business Bureau and stated that his company was in no way affiliated with Trusted Natural Products (www.oradr.com). Business Opportunity & Franchise Offers
Before investing money in a business opportunity or franchise offer, investigate carefully. In most cases, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires the promoters to provide prospective buyers with detailed disclosure documents at the time the offer is made.

To make a sound decision, study the following: a written description of the offer and the contract for details of the rights and responsibilities of the seller and investor; the background and history of the company and its principal officers; and its financial statement. Since area saturation could affect your chances of success, determine the number of investors in your, and surrounding, areas to compare to potential market demand.

If earnings claims are made, ask for a list of investors who earned back more than their initial investment and the percentage of all investors that list represents. Talk to other investors regarding their length of time in the business and satisfaction with the company, its products and services, its support and training, the business itself, earnings, and the return on their investment.

To protect yourself from unscrupulous promoters, watch for these warning signs: high pressure sales tactics which will not allow you the time to investigate the offer; representations of extraordinary profits with very little risk or effort involved; excessively high start-up fees; lack of communication or evasive answers about the plan or claims made; and income projections which are not backed by specific experiences of participants.

Business opportunity offers, including franchise offers, made in Kentucky may be required to register with the Attorney General and post a surety bond. Those which have registered must display their registration number in Kentucky advertisements. Before you pay for any weight-loss program, take note: while many diet programs may help you lose weight, there is little published evidence that most people maintain that weight loss for any significant time.

WEIGHT LOSS: If considering a diet program, getting answers to the following questions may be helpful.

* What does the diet program require you to do?

* How much does the program cost? How do you pay for it?

* What are the health risks associated with the diet program?

* What kind of maintenance program is provided and at what cost?

MAINTENANCE: Learning how to keep weight off, through a maintenance program, is just as important as losing weight. While many diet programs can help you lose weight, the track record for helping customers maintain weight loss is not nearly as good.

Ask:

* Is the maintenance program offered as part of the total package, or optional at additional cost?

* What does the maintenance program consist of?

* How long does it last?

* What must you do?

* Are counseling, exercise, and group meetings included?

The longer a program focuses on helping you change your eating and exercise patterns, the greater the chances of long-term success. If the diet program is not seriously committed to helping you maintain a sensible eating and exercise program -- possibly for the rest of your life -- you may want to look elsewhere.
