BBB AND CINTAS TO HOST FREE COMMUNITY SHRED DAY IN LEXINGTON
Lowes Home Improvement in Hamburg Providing the Site
(Lexington, KY) – The public may safely destroy documents containing personal information at a free Protect Your ID Shred Day event hosted by the Better Business Bureau serving Central & Eastern Kentucky, Cintas Corporation and Lowes Home Improvement.
The event is set for Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 9am-12 Noon at Lowes Home Improvement, 2300 Grey Lag Way, Lexington (off Winchester Road and I-75 in the Hamburg Pavilion area).
"We are pleased to offer this valuable opportunity for the public to help protect their identity by securely disposing of unneeded sensitive documents," said Jack Frank, BBB of Central & Eastern Kentucky President & CEO. "We appreciate our BBB Accredited Business, Cintas, for making this event possible. We also want to thank BBB Accredited Business Lowes Home Improvement for providing the location."
BBB staff will be on hand to assist consumers and distribute helpful BBB information.
In addition, the Kentucky Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division will have representatives present to offer information to consumers at the event.
“Identity theft is a growing threat for individuals and businesses across the nation,” explained Karen Carnahan, President and COO of Cintas Document Management Division. “This event will bring awareness of proper document management to the community and provide them with the peace of mind that their sensitive information will not end up in the wrong hands.”
The public may bring documents to be shredded by on-site, certified Cintas employees during the event. Documents will be constantly monitored and protected. A strict 5 box limit will be enforced to reduce waiting times (no businesses please). Paper clips and rubber bands are permitted but Cintas cannot accept CD’s, binders, electronics, pharmaceutical bottles or other media.
