Lexington, KY - If you are unemployed, you might be searching various print and online job listings. Some companies may be running ads masquerading as "help wanted" offers....but really are not employment at all...
A central Kentucky job seeker called your Better Business Bureau because he'd found a listing on a job search site that seemed to offer employment...and fame.
The ad said that positions were available for actors, models and extras in movies. Make up to $300 a day! That sounds like a great job...plus you get to meet people in the movie business.
The man checking it out wondered about the company. It's called Talent 6 out of California. Their website seems to offer the chance to realize a dream being in show business. We clicked to sign up...
And it asked for credit card payment information. You are buying a membership to access casting call audition information. The original advertisement deceived our caller into believing that the company was indeed hiring.
The Better Business Bureau in California, where Talent 6 is located, saw the same problem. They wrote to Talent 6 about their online ads misleading job seekers into thinking the company was hiring.
Talent 6 did not address those BBB concerns. The company also has an "F" rating at the BBB due to complaints from consumers who alleged difficulty canceling the service, getting refunds, and misrepresentation of services.
If you need a job, don't pay for one. If an ad is offering employment and you later find out they want money, don't fall for it!
