Lexington, KY - In a tight job market, job seekers need every edge they can get. So if you learn you need a high school diploma or GED in order to get or keep a job, there are some websites out there promising they can help that you need to avoid.
Here’s where NOT to go…Jefferson High School Online. People who need a high school diploma or GED fast in order to get or keep a job have called your Better Business Bureau asking if this company is on the up and up.
The website says just send $200 and get a high school diploma in no time, no classes or studying...AND right from your home computer. What could go wrong?
Plenty. While this company claims to offer you a graduation package in just days, take a closer look.
If you are past high school age, you need a GED to show you've completed and passed the equivalent tests. The fine print on Jefferson High School Online's site tells you that what they are offering is NOT a GED and that you must get one locally.
The BBB in Tucson, Arizona, where this company is based, issued an alert about it. They've given the company an F rating. The BBB says people who paid for the "diploma" and tried to use it to enter college were turned away, told it was no good.
If you need a GED, contact your local board of education for information. It will take some time, studying and tests. And it WON'T cost you $200. If you see an offer like this for a diploma online, don't fall for it!
